Extend the Life of Engine Rubber Hoses and Plastic Parts

Jul. 23, 2021

Car protectants can help protect your engine rubber hoses and car hoses from damage. Unless you're a car enthusiast, most of us jump in the car, turn the key and start driving. We rarely think about the engine, let alone all the parts that keep the vehicle running.

Until, of course, it fails. Only then will non-mechanics and regular drivers find out how much it takes to keep an engine in tip-top shape.Car protectors make it easy to extend the life of your engine. Just spend a little time at your local car wash every few months and a few seasons.

Anyone who has looked under the hood of their car knows how oily and dirty engine parts can get. Grease, oil and fluid buildup usually leads to premature replacement of radiator hoses , A/C hoses, belts and other rubber parts.

These replacements are annoying at best, and always inconvenient - not to mention expensive.

In addition, a dirty engine can make it difficult to tell if your vehicle is losing the fluids it needs.

Using a car protector is a great way to maintain and extend the life of rubber and plastic under the hood. If you like a shiny engine, it will help with that, too.

The first step is simple: clean the engine

You can perform the following steps at home or at a self-service car wash.

Spray the engine with a degreaser according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Use a high-pressure hose to rinse off any accumulated grease, oil and grime.

Use an old towel to dry out the build-up or blow it away with an air hose to make the engine as dry as possible.

Next, spray on a protectant

Immediately after the engine is clean, soak the entire compartment, covering all rubber, plastic and painted surfaces.

If you have an air hose, blow the excess protectant through the engine and dry the surfaces completely with a clean, absorbent cloth. If you do not have air hoses, allow the protectant to sit for five minutes and then dry all surfaces thoroughly.

Avoid letting water into the dispenser or unsealed electronics. That's it! A coat of protectant will keep your engine performing well and in good condition for months, like this.
